EDEM1

ER degradation-enhancing alpha-mannosidase-like 1 (EDEM1) is a gene that was identified by multiple users in many docs spread across several different missions. One of EDEM1's functions is to route misfolded glycoproteins for degradation--that is, this protein serves an important role in protein homeostasis. Interestingly enough, the EDEM1 protein itself is an N-glycosylated protein and is a target of N-glycanase. Hence N-glycanase controls the degradation of this protein which affects the degradation of other proteins. Help us explore the literature around an interesting clue that YOU found.
